Alex Powell to Lead R-ace GP Entry in 2025 F4 Middle East Championship
Mercedes junior Alex Powell will spearhead R-ace GP’s campaign in the 2025 Formula 4 Middle East Championship, as the highly rated Jamaican-American driver continues his steady rise through the junior ranks.
Powell has been part of the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 junior program since his karting days, and his early years in single-seaters have backed up the hype. He made his car racing debut in late 2023, joining Prema Racing for the final two rounds of the Italian F4 Championship, where he gained his first taste of the fiercely competitive European scene.
That experience laid the groundwork for a breakthrough campaign in the F4 United Arab Emirates Championship at the start of 2024. Powell claimed his maiden win in car racing and finished sixth in the standings, delivering a confident statement in just his second series at this level.
He returned to Europe with Prema for a full season in Italian F4, where he quickly emerged as a consistent frontrunner. Competing against one of the strongest fields in junior single-seaters, Powell not only secured a top-five finish in the championship but also clinched the Rookie of the Year title. The result underlined both his raw speed and racecraft, as well as a maturity that continues to set him apart in the crowded talent pool.
Over the winter, Powell made the switch to R-ace GP for post-season testing and will now make his competitive debut with the French team in the rebranded Formula 4 Middle East series. The campaign offers a valuable platform for preparation ahead of the 2025 European season and gives Powell another opportunity to sharpen his racecraft before returning to the spotlight in Italy or beyond.
Backed by one of Formula 1’s most successful teams and building momentum with every outing, Powell enters the new season with growing expectations and a clear trajectory. His move to R-ace GP marks the next step in a career that continues to gather pace.
